Woman in the Mirror

I wrote this poem as a child and this one has been commonly attributed to Cecília Meireles, because I took part in book collectives during childhood. That one has a book on poems for children published. This isn't a nursery rhyme, though..

I finally translated the whole poem into English (I grew up bilingual). Of course, this is not an exact translation, but rather an unprecedented adaption, as happens with poetry. You can read both versions bellow..

Mullher ao Espellho

Hoje, que seja esta ou aquela
Pouco me importa
Quero apenas parecer bela
Pois seja qual for, estou morta.

Já fui loura, já fui morena
Já fui Margarida e Beatriz
Já fui Maria e Madalena
Só não pude ser como quis.

Que mal faz esta cor fingida
Do meu cabelo, do meu rosto
Se tudo é tinta; o mundo, a vida
O contentamento, o desgosto.

Woman in the Mirror

Today, being a zero or someone
I no longer care
As long as I'm the pretty one
For I'm dead whoever I dare.

I've been blond, I've been brunette
I've been Madeleine, I've been Trish
I've been Mary and Benardette
But I could not be my own wish.

Does it matter if fake
Colors of my hair and face
If all is ink; the world, and for its sake
Life itself, joy, disgrace.

Setting, accountability and achievement of goals - Part 1

One thing I love about the beginning of a New Year is setting goals and New Year's resolutions . But, for the majority of people, they tend to be forgotten before the end of the first month .       So, how do you set your goals and keep consistently pursuing them all through the year?     While I was reading through my goals for this year to sort them in order of priority for their execution, I had the idea of writing this post sharing my system for organizing them and getting it done.     You may have goals for different areas of your life , but it's a good idea grouping them all together in your schedule.     I wrote my personal and professional goals together in another profile . On this blog, I posted my writing goals . I have worked with design , mainly design for web, development and animation . but been a songwriter since childhood and also wrote some screenplays that were hugely succesful , but I didn't rece...

La Luz Es Como El Agua | Light Is Like Water | Part 1

I wrote this short story many years ago, while I was in college and started taking Spanish language lessons in a idiom school. I wrote it originally in Spanish, as an assigment for my classes.       I saw it credited to another (real?) author pseudonym on the internet, with the date of 78, but it's decades younger than that.       This story is inspired in my childhood; since young age, I was interested in science and technology, hence my many screenplays in sci-fi, and was fortunate enough to get a correct explanation, thus being able to write this story.       It will be published in parts, due to the whims of a mean typist.

Setting, accountability and achievement of goals - Part 2

On the first part of this post , I presented tips for setting, prioritizing and organizing your goals. Now we are going to see how to make sure you don't give them up along the year.     So, how do you keep pursuing your goals with  all through the year? Keeping track of goals and keeping goals on track     The title of this section must have reminded you of Martha Stewart 's motto* : I'm huge fan of her organization tips.  * "A place for everything and everything on its place."      So, I divided the  Purgatory of Goals  in  'keep it'  (monthly/weekly/daily),  'depend mainly upon me' ,  'depend on others'  and  'maybe'  goals.     Then, I started to look for the already stablished routine through the preliminary list and put them under the 'keep it' group in the Purgatory Goal List  only as a reminder.     Next, I did the same for the other goals...
